In the South, we love a good excuse to have friends over for cocktails. Pair that with stylish clothes, and we think we are royalty.
By far my favorite social occasion is brunch with the girls.
We have brunch because it's Saturday, and to be perfectly honest because we can. It's a fun excuse to have a play date with our beautiful children and gossip about the week's events. From success in mommy land to toddler tantrums, all kinds of conversations can be heard, as well as a hefty amount of laughter.
In order to host a successful brunch, one should always include a great mimosa, and of course some kind type of grits. Today, I am going to share two fantastic and easy recipes for you to enjoy!
Shrimp & Grits
A phenomenal cook gave me this recipe, and I adapted it for an on the go mom. (Honestly, is there any other type of mom?)
The great thing about this recipe is that if you have a dairy intolerance, it is still fantastic when you substitute nondairy items.
These yummy grits pair amazingly with strawberry mimosas. Don't worry though, that recipe is easy too.
Ladies, I make easy. (Namely because with 3 kiddos and a 4th on the way, I do not have time for anything else!)
Grab your favorite champagne glass. Pour the desired amount of strawberry puree in your glass. Then, top the puree with champagne, and garnish with a strawberry.
Voila! Now you are Southern Living pro! (Ok, so maybe not. Don’t worry though, we are not telling.)
Brunch Outfit Recommendation:
If you totally want to rock the “put together mom look” at brunch, try our layered midi bodycon dress, available in fuchsia or black. This dress will totally remove the feeling that you have spent all week chasing babies, and make you feel like a million bucks! Plus, it pairs great with so many accent pieces that you will literally be able to pull of dozens of looks with this piece in your wardrobe.
Now that you are all set for brunch with the ladies, there’s only one thing left for you to do.
